Friday Fragments- August 7, 2009

The melons this year have been fantastic. Sometimes you get them and they're flavorless and blah, but this year they are GOOD!

We were watching Mythbusters and Martijn commented that he didn't like the "new voiceover" guy. I had to break it to him that the "new" guy was actually the original guy. For some reason, Discovery Channel does different voiceovers for Europe and America but this new seasons episodes have the American voiceover guy.

One of my recipes was featured over on Meatless Monday.

Martijn likes weird music. Imagine Madonna... only to polka music. I'm not kidding. Though, I will admit to liking the GreenDay bluegrass covers.

Tomorrow will be a day of errands and more bicycle repair. We get to take the sprocket off of Martijn's bike and replace it. I'm optimistic that it will go smoothly, but don't be surprised if you start seeing some blue air around the Eindhoven region. You might want to plug your ears if you have a nervous constitution.

I HATE WORD VERIFICATION! I don't often post comments on blogs that have word verification on. I really really dislike it.

While we're on the subject of blog comments, I really hate it when I get a comment from a fellow Blogger user and I try to reply to it via e-mail and get the EVIL noreply-comment@blogger.com e-mail address. It makes me cry. Here's how you can fix it.

I got my organization project done this week. I'm so impressed with myself.

I am ALSO impressed with myself for knowing that the neighbor was asking me for a bottle opener when she came over earlier. I'm not sure if I could've figured it out this time last year.

There were several comments on my 10 Random Facts post wondering how I managed to burn my head on a refrigerator light bulb when I was little. You know the side by side fridge/freezer units with the split freezers? Well, I'm telling you those half doors look like doors to a secret wonderful place. A secret wonderful place that will BURN YOUR HEAD if you walk into them. Don't say you haven't been warned.

I'm sure if it wasn't a billionty percent humidity and HOT that I could figure out something else clever to say here, but my brain is a puddle and I still think my sinuses are filled with crud. Therefore, I shall end this posting with links to Friday Fragments and Friday's Freewrite.

I have to say that I tried an entirely different dish based on the picture of your peppers; I loved the way the eggs looked, so I tried it with a chorizo and potato dish, then cracked the eggs on top and broiled them. It was a big hit at my house. So even though I didn't try YOUR recipe, it was inspirational! :)

I HATE word verification too. I absolutely hate it. I almost want to do an entire post about how much I hate it and it has stopped me form leaving comments.

I LOVE a good melon.

Congrats on having a recipe featured!

I hate word verification, too - and thanks for putting that link for the email, because I have sent way too many email messages off to cyberspace to the no-reply address. ;)

Happy Friday - and good luck with the bike repair! ;)

Madonna to polka music? Wow! I don't like word verification either. Hope I don't have it on my blog...

Hehe. I cracked up at the 'secret wonderful place' story. I once got a really bad burn from a light bulb, had to go to the doctor and everything. Why? Because, I wouldn't take my finger off the extremely hot light bulb. (Shh, don't tell anyone.)

Amen to the word verification and noreply-comment@blogger.com stuff!! I feel the same way. I will often no reply when if I have to type in a verification code. No joke. When I get the noreply-comment@blogger.com email, I too want to cry. I will go as far to search their blog for an email, just so that I can reply properly.

Wait, you burned your head? For some reason I thought you just said you bumped your head. Crazy!
I can't imagine Madonna to Polka. That is weird music. Good job on learning the language. Not an easy thing to do, I know. And can I just say, I love your random thoughts. Always so very entertaining.

I am not a fan of word verification either.

I hope that the weather is a bit cooler there today the way it is here.. I've had the doors open and have been letting a breeze blow through in hopes of cooling off those warm walls that hold in the heat. It has helped, but I'll open them up a little later on to get more.

Hope you are feeling better and that you have a greeeattttt weekend xxx

Word verification is for newbies. Only kidding-I guess some people have had problems with spammers and WV helps? Personally, I have only had one or two spam comments in two years, so I'm not worried about it.

Believe it or not, I have a belly FULL of cantelope right now-it was FANTASTIC!

I suggest you play the weird music while you do the sprocket fixing...maybe that will help? :) Good luck!

My husband is a polka band leader and I never heard polka till I met him! He just released the first ever children's album that is all polka...and it was MY idea :) www.pintsizepolkas.com if you want to hear it.

He was once approached by a producer to do some funny combo things. Like "Blister in the Sun" done to polka beat and he also did "Girls just Want to have Fun" as a polka. The guy wanted him to do a tour of universities and colleges, but my hubby turned him down. If we knew each other then maybe I'd have encouraged that too!

You made me chuckle on that one!

Oh my goodness, I just told my husband about your post and he reminded me that some guy from the Netherlands just released two of his songs on vinyl there. If you honey really likes polka (the real stuff) he should look for it...we got a couple sent to us and it was our first mail from there.

Mike Schneider Band--the two sides are The Ping Polka and Frenchie's Polka.

Okay, sorry for the plug, but it was pretty cool for him to be approached to have his music released in another country. Turns out it is where you live :)

Madonna to polka music -- that might actually be worth it! :-)

Yay for being organized. I aspire to be, but I doubt it will happen.

I finally linked my email to my blog after I read on a few blogs how bothersome this is to people. I get it now. Stopped by from SITS!
