Fragmented Freewrites- November 20, 2009

Is it really already Friday? I wasn't really participating in the world on Tuesday and Wednesday so it feels like it should only be mid-week! Make sure to check out everyones fragments by clicking on the FF link at the bottom of the post. Thanks, as always, to Mrs4444 for being such a gracious host to such a bunch of hooligans!

  • I can't be the only one not going gaga over the new Twilight series movie, can I? I was so not impressed with the books and the thought of having to experience it in film sorta makes me want to gag.

  • I'm going to dinner with a group of friends tomorrow in Utrecht. I'm pretty stoked! I know the company will be good, so hopefully the food will be good as well. It's crazy expensive to eat out here.

  • My mother in law sent over a huge load of food to put in the freezer yesterday, for which I am very thankful. I was also very thankful that I'd been working on going through what was already in the freezer the past couple of weeks so I had ROOM for the food she sent!

  • I cried at my therapy appointment this week and left feeling better about a couple of things than I had in ages.

  • How is it that my glasses get so filthy? I mean, it's not like I smash dirt on the lenses or anything, but the way they look sometimes you'd think that I spent a lot of time grinding that dirt in.

  • On Sunday, we're having a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving to show off "how it's done" to some people who haven't had the experience before. It should be interesting also to see how other families do it (our host is doing her family's traditional menu).

  • Saturday next week, we'll be having the NAWC Thanksgiving Dinner. My mother in law also found some turkey for cheap in Germany and invited us over. I'm so psyched. Turkey is so expensive here so this is a mega-wild-fantastic treat.

  • I'm getting my cute little pink camera back tomorrow. I feel giddy! I've been using my old Canon, which I LOOOOVED. But, I've been spoiled. It doesn't fit into my pocket like my little Nikon. And the zoom on my Nikon? Holy moley! It will be great to have it back, sans the broken battery door.

Amen on the dirty glasses! I only wear mine in the evening and weekends around the house, and they are always disgusting. It's as though my eyes spit out dirt and grime onto the lenses. I've got scratch free lenses, smudge free lenses, but what I WANT is dirt free lenses!

Enjoy that turkey dinner! The Twilight series got progressively worse as I read, but still I will see this movie...and the other two. :o)

The Twilight crap annoys the snot out of me. The books were horrible and I'm so tired of all this hoopla for teenage angst and vampires. Stop the madness!

I have the same problem with my glass. Actually, as I look at them now they are dirty again.

Great post...except for the part where you said it feels like it should only be mid week. It definitely feels like it should be Friday in my world! (grins)

I take the whole Twilight thing as a guilty pleasure... I know it's kinda silly, I want to hit the girl upside the head, but I can't stop watching. I even read the books. I go back and forth between not caring and feeling ashamed, lol.

My glasses are always dirty, and I wear them 2 hours a day before bed... ????

No joke about the Twilight movies. For the most part, I enjoyed the books, but the thought of having to sit through a condensed version on screen makes me want to cry.

I am so not into Twilight and agree with you that it would be throw up on the big screen. And I think all glasses have a dirt magnet on them. Have fun this Turkey Day!

I read all of the Twilight books because they hooked me enough that I wanted to keep reading. I don't think the writing is that good but I liked the whole story arc. Justin read the books, too. We watched the movie with a Rifftrax (downloadable commentary track from the MST3K folks). So funny. You can watch a preview of the Twilight track on their site. My favorite part is when Edward runs with Bella on her back and they sing Benny Hill music.

I so don't care about Twilight. I'm kinda in love with this statement:

"I was so not impressed with the books and the thought of having to experience it in film sorta makes me want to gag."

you make me giggle!!! I will see the new moon movie but once all the crazys get done seeing it... Maybe I'll wait until Natalie buys it and watch hers... But yeah not the best book I've ever read... I'm with yeah on the freezer thing I've been cooking out of my freezer for the last few weeks I can't belive how amny meals I had in there...

I am not a fan of twilight at all. I prefer the Anne Rice Vampires to these pre-teen heart throb vamps who would rather love you than drink your blood. It's sexier to be used lol.
Have fun at dinner!

No, you are not the only one not enamoured by the whole Twilight thang. At least you had an educated opinion; I haven't read any of the series and have no interest. I just don't like fantasy in my fiction and never have. I find reality (or at least the plausible) so much more interesting...and sometimes stranger!

How wonderful that you got a little release from some things - very cool.

I'm happy that you are able to have Thanksgiving in your neck of the woods and to be able to have Turkey, too! :)

Congrats on getting your camera back. I'd be lost without mine.

It was wonderful to see you last night and I had such a great time. I really liked Martijn and just hated that I was at the other end of the table and didn't get to talk to y'all more. We'll have to get together again soon :) Enjoy your turkeyyyyy :) I'm going to cook a turkey breast for Marcel and I, or I think I am anyway :) *hugsss*

Glasses! Yes!

I think it's sweat, the occasional contact with eyebrows or whatever and the ick just sticks to them. Can I have a anti-ick coating please?

My last pair were good in this respect and I very rarely needed to clean them. But the prescription was slightly wrong and they broke and I'm much happier with the new ones. Except that they get icky!

I haven't been sucked into the whole Twilight saga yet. So you're not alone on the not going gaga over the movie. ;)

Bless your MIL for filling up your freezer! :) That's very cool that you get to have a turkey dinner - I didn't realize it's a 'special treat' over in Germany - I guess we take it for granted over here, don't we? :)

WooHoo! On getting your camera back! :)

Happy FF late! :)

My glasses are always filthy, no matter how much I clean them.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!! Glad you found some turkey on the cheap. I'm not crazy about the whole Twilight thing; the bug just hasn't bit me, I guess.

Glad your MIL is cool like that. Mine is, too, and it's wonderful.

No New Moon madness over here, either.

I'm happy for you, that you had a breakthrough in therapy. Really great.

Happy Thanksgiving, Mub! :)

Hey Mub! I found this lady through Unknown Mami and thought of you; she's an expat living in the Netherlands. Maybe you know her? http://homecookingwithsonya.blogspot.com/
