Fragmented Freewrites- September 4, 2009

Friday is here and that means brain dump time!

I was asking Maritjn if you could get Russet potatoes here, and so he did a Google search for "russet aardappels kopen" (russet potatoes to buy) and one of the sponsered links was for "tweedehands.net." Uh, tweedehands means SECOND HAND... Would YOU buy second hand used potatoes?

I'm not sure why I keep waiting until 10 o'clock on Friday night to write these posts. By this time my brain is goo and I can't think of anything clever to say.

I am working on compiling a "list of things that must go." First on the list- music players on blogs. I can't even write coherent sentences about how much I don't like them.

I have big feet. Big feet to the point of it being just plain ridiculous trying to find shoes. I also cannot find cute feminine or girly socks. Man socks are okay, but you don't get the cheerful variety that you can find in women's socks. Anyhow, my mom really loves me. She's been making me awesome socks. Really, truly, awesome socks! These babies will NOT be chopped up to make monkeys.

My Amazing Awesome Socks

Speaking of monkeys...

I'm still perfecting my monkey hair technique, but I think he's pretty funny. Here are the rest that are done.

I'm -almost- finished with the batch of half-done monkeys that have been sitting on my shelf for the past.... uh, long long time. I have 3 more to complete and then can delve into chopping up the new socks that I got in my package.

That dumb lady never got back with me about the sewing machine. I hope she drops it on her foot.

I'm still contemplating which recipe I'll use for the next installment of FNCCC. If you missed it earlier in the week, you can see my post and review of the Beer Battered Fish and Broccoli Slaw.

I got an e-mail from my uncle and have been trying to decide what you could use in place of the beer. I'm thinking club soda or 7up might work... maybe ginger ale? Anyone have any brilliant ideas? I'm open for suggestions!

I think it's pretty safe to say summer is OVER in this country. I need to dig out my light box in anticipation of the long grey winter to come.

What do you do with all your sock monkeys? I would definitely be interested in purchasing one...or two. :) I love them! All I can say about those sock your mother made is...WOW. Impressive. I cannot knit.

I wish summer was over here. It's still 86 degrees today. Not quite as bad as it has been but I'd rather have 70.

Have a great weekend!

Cute socks and cute sock monkies!

I had a girlfriend once who had large feet for a woman. She was always so upset to not be able to wear girly or sexy shoes. So, I sort of understand just from being friend with her. I am sorry you have to go through that.

Monkeys!!!

Yes, the music must go! Not only is it interogating my brain but those playlists make their page load slower.

Okay, I am going to have to hire you to make my son's Christmas gift. Can you send me details on pricing and all that (if you have time to make him one, I mean) because those are so darn cute!

So glad you like the leftover chicken recipe I posted for Simple Suppers this week, After reading this post I have a few other memes I host that you may like - There's the Color Carnival, those socks would make a perfect Color Carnival entry! And every Friday night I host a blog party at Menagerie just for those who like to relax and catch up on their own blogs and others on Friday evenings (or anytime over the weekend - especially this weekend, it's my birthday party weekend!). Hope you'll stop by to check out both :-)

Love the socks! What a sweet mom!! I know she misses you!
I have to tell you this funny story. When my son was about 7 yo, we were driving down the street and he asked me what a thrift store was. I told him it was a place where you bought used things that other people didn't want any more. He got this horrific look on his face, and he said - "Ooow, who would want used bread?!" What I didn't realize, before answering his question, was we had just past one of those day-old bread discount stores, whose sign said - bakery thrift store. We still laugh about that incident!

Many blessings!!

The socks are gorgeous!

I have made beer bread with sprite. We all really liked the flavor (very mild citrus). I always make juice or soda substitutions for alcohol without any problem in the final product.

P.S. Love the monkeys!

Love the socks! Love the monkeys!!! You should do a giveaway!

And I agree with you about music on blogs.

What? Over already!! :(

I love your monkeys!! They're adorable, seriously. The peachy one is my favorite; I just love her skinny little body and the stripes. And wow, your mom must really love you to go to all of that trouble to make amazing socks like that for you. (And you must be a good daughter, too!)

Have a wonderful week, and good luck finding the potatoes, used or not :)

I keep my sound turned off on my computer, just because of those music machines. If they were located at the top of the blog with a GIANT red button that said "stop the madness" then I'd be happier. But no. The music is usually located at the very bottom of the blog. (Well, that was a rant LOL)

Now, I've completely forgotten what you wrote on your FF LOL Well, have a great day!
