Vintage Thingie Thursday- Coat Rack!

This weeks Vintage Thingie Thursday is probably more of a "I surpassed vintage about 40 years ago Thingie Thursday."

Picture 1502

This is the coat rack that was in the garden plot of Martijn's great grandfather. The really neat part about it is the garden plot actually was right by where our apartment building currently stands. The hooks have been replaced at some point during it's life, but it's a neat piece I think.

Any ideas on what to put on top of it? There's only about 12 inches between it and the ceiling and it's 5 inches deep. I'm up for any suggestions, it's a little naked up there!

Oh I do love this fabulous coat rack! I think it's time to head to some thrift stores and find some more vintage goodies to put up there!
Maybe a 8-10" angel to go with the angels in the tiles could be a good start...

ellen b.: Thanks for the suggestion of angels! That hadn't even crossed my mind (silly me *L*). I do have a couple of the "Willow Tree" angels at my parents in the US. They're not vintage, but I bet they'd go well up there with some other goodies.

The coat rack is a very nice design with the four tiles. You might put a collection of items on the shelf which pick up the color in the tiles.

I think it looks good "naked".

Oh, what a great coatrack. I was thinking maybe a cup and saucer, or a plate......maybe some old wooden spools would be cute, (the larger kind that will hold a taper candle) This is a great vintage piece.

What a gorgeous coat rack!! I'm mad about vintage tins and I think a few tins on the shelf would look FAB :)

Really lovely coat rack. Thanks for noticing my matryoshka dolls! I also agree with Carrie - maybe highlight the blue in the tiles somehow.

I love that. I think that I would use it in the kitchen to hang aprons and put blue and white plates on top of it.

That is a really neat coat rack. I think the coolest part is that you know the history behind it.

That is beautiful. I think angels would be nice, or maybe some vintage cookie tins, or something of the like.

*hugs* how are you?
