Snap Links

It seems like a lot of blogs use Mr Linky to do their blog carnival link ups, and this is a good thing because you have a handy dandy list of links to click on instead of having to dig through comments and find links that way. It can, however, be a bit tedious to click on all 30-40 links (or 300 if you are talking about Works for me Wednesday's Mr Linky).

I have found a solution! It's called Snap Links. It allows you to open multiple links at once, and I loooove it. I even put off upgrading to Firefox 3 until they had a compatible version.

Snap Links only works on Firefox, which I'm sure all of you very smart clever people already use. If not, you can download it here. Then you can download and install Snap Links here. Once installed, all you have to do is right click (keep holding the button down) and drag the box until it selects the links you want to open.

Let go of the button and the links you've selected will pop up in new tabs.

Geez, I have a lotta bookmarks in my quick-link bar... but look at the opened tabs! Those are the links that were selected in the previous screen shot.

In addition to using it for Mr Linky posts, I also like to use it when I'm doing a random Google search and want to check out several of the hits at once. It's also good for "Link Roundup" posts. Maybe I'm just really lazy but I hate clicking and going back and forth between tabs and windows when I don't have to!

I don't recommend clicking on all 300 links at once because your computer will likely have an aneurysm and then you will be sad. 10-15 links seems to be a pretty good number, and it also breaks the list down into bite size pieces! After you've read your snapped links then you can go do something else for a little while, it's almost as good as a kitchen timer for allotting a certain amount of time to computer time.

So, Snap Links works for me! What works for you?

Jummy Jummy!

Every now and then a company has an ad campaign that is so brilliant you can't help but really really REALLY want to buy their product.

Mr Jummy (the Dutch j sounds like an English y, so pronounce it as "yummy") and the band of hunger monsters from Sultana are a very good example of this. I don't normally post youtube videos cause I usually don't watch them when they're posted on other people's blogs, but these are too good to resist, seriously. The basic premis is everyone has their own little hunger monster inside of them and if you eat the Sultana biscuits, you will calm the monster!

I think this is the concept video, because it's in English and you don't see these monsters in later videos

This is my all time favorite. Him trying to spear the fish is priceless.

It's just so stinking funny.

This summer they started advertising a promotion where you collect four stamps from their packages and then turn them in along with 4€ and you can get your VERY OWN Mr Jummy handpop (hand puppet). Since I didn't really buy these biscuits on a very regular basis, it took a couple of months to collect my four stamps. Little did I know that I should've just gone and bought four packs the day I found out about the promo, cause by the time I had mine collected the Mr Jummy's were no more!

I was bummed, but not completely defeated. Martijn looked on the Sultana website and it said they had a higher than expected demand (duh, look at the guy!) and they'd be making and sending out more in November. So after months of waiting I finally got an e-mail saying they'd have them available on November 25th. I told Martijn I was going to camp out at the post office so I could get mine and then, of course, I promptly forgot all about it that morning. I went to the post office on November 26th, one measly day later and they were COMPLETELY GONE AGAIN. I am telling you, the drama involved in getting one of these puppets was ridiculous. Again they sent an e-mail saying check back in a couple days. So I did. And they still didn't have any. I persisted and I'm telling you, I got my workout cycling to and from the post offices trying to get my hands on this fellow.

I'm now happy to report that Mr Jummy and I are having quite a lot of fun with each other.

Mr Jummy and ME!

Blogs I like...

I mentioned a few days ago that I my intent for this blog wasn't for it to be a recipe blog.

So, what -is- my intent?

Good question. I'm still working on an answer.

In the meantime, I thought I'd share some of the blogs that I enjoy reading.

A Touch of Dutch is the blog of a fellow American living in The Netherlands. She writes about life and has some darn good informative posts about life in The Netherlands. There are also tons of good language links, and I really like the "Dutch word of the week" in her sidebar.

Two Cheese Please makes wonderful things like rainbow scarves, handcarved rubber stamps, and the cutest stuffed goat I've ever seen.

Blogger Buster is really good to learn little tips and techniques on how to make your blog better. It's the only reason I managed to get my cute header with Henrietta sewing to work.

Org Junkie has some good ideas on how to get things organized and also hosts Menu Plan Monday each week. I don't have time to read all the submissions on MPM, but I try to go through a few every week to glean new recipe ideas.

I've also been getting a kick out of the posts on Confessions of an Apron Queen. She hosts Vintage Thingie Thursday, which I've participated in the past few weeks.

Tammy's Recipes hosts Kitchen Tip Tuesday, and I have been shamelessly learning interesting things I never would've figured out on my own there.

What are some of your favorite blogs?
